What are Minx Nails? | Simple Nail Designs

Nail polish with a shield of armor, literally.
Are you looking for nails that are weatherproof, chip proof and acts like a shield of armor? A rising trend in fashion is Minx nails. These simple nail designs are foils that come pre-made with nail art designs. They simply have to be applied and you have durable nails for at least 1-2 weeks. You get nails so perfect that they will make most people do a double-take. What’s the catch? They are best applied by professionals, but this article will provide several ideas on how you can be a part of the Minx nails experience too!

Beyonce minx nails

With simple nail designs like Minx nails, the possibilities are endless. Many celebrities and models wear Minx nails for an impeccable finish. It is very common for people to go the simple route and get gold or silver Minx nails. If that sounds boring, think again. Imagine a piece of shiny, gold foil paper being adhered to your nail. The result is so shiny and smooth that it looks like you have 14k gold on your fingers! Minx nails often use metallic backdrops to draw attention and they come in many simple nail designs from plaid, stripes, hearts and fire images.

What’s the process? | Simple Nail Designs

Minx is a solid film with an adhesive that is activated by heat. The heat softens the film allowing it to cater to the shape of the nail. No top coat is needed as the film itself is very shiny. The Minx nail is easily removable with heat.

If you are gung-ho about doing simple nail designs yourself, here are a few options. It is recommended that most women simply go to a salon that offers this service. This is because the technician has been trained in applying Minx nails. Minx nails tend to be pricey compared to other nail services, but remember that they are durable and will not chip. If you are a nail technician or cosmetologist interested in applying your own Minx nails, you can purchase a starter kit online, which comes with a training video. However, the starter kit is expensive and you will have to register an account. For more information, visit http://www.minxnails.com/dnn/

An alternative to Minx nails is foils. Foils come in solid metallic colors and simple nail designs as well. They are very affordable and are easy to apply yourself.

Simple Nail Designs for Short Nails

There are just as many simple nail designs for short nails as there is for long nails. I like this photo because it demonstrates the versatility of short nails. Having short nails does not mean that your only option is solid color nail polish. As demonstrated, short nails are a great canvas for bold, fun colors and fun shapes likes circles and polka dots!

Cute, Simple Nail Designs: Striped Bow Tie

If you are looking for cute, simple nail designs, look no further. If you enjoy striped nails, then you are in for a treat. The artist took striped nails to the next level by adding a cute bow tie on each of her thumbs. The best part about this look is that you can re-create it without any fancy tools. The only thing you need are different colors of nail polish: black white and blue. Want to make this nail design even more formal? You can substitute the blue background for blue instead.

Re-create this simple, fun nail design

1. As you can see in the photo, the base color is blue. So, paint all of your nails wit a rich blue color.

2. The next thing you want to do is draw thick black and white stripes across the top of each of your nails. Because you don’t want the black and white to mix. You should start with one color first and wait for it to dry before using the second color. For example, draw two white stripes on each nail. Let dry. Then go back and add your black stripes. Another option is to paint the top half- of your nail all white. Then go back and add two black stripes.

3. Once you are satisfied with your striped nails, it is time to add the final touch to this simple, fun nail design-the bow tie. Because your thumb has the largest nail, it is easiest to draw the bow tie just on your thumbs. Drawing a design on just one finger is very popular and fun these days. Draw your bow tie in white. Then go back and outline in black nail polish. To be more precise, you can use a black nail art brush to outline your bow tie.

Now your simple, fun nail design is complete!

Unleashing the beast…or the zebra within! Simple Nail Designs

People seem to have an obsession with animal prints. Nothing is off limits including leopard print dresses, crocodile skin boots and soft, tiger blankets. It is no wonder that women love animal prints on their nails, too! Women love simple nail designs, especially the French nail manicure. The French nail manicure can get boring at times, so it is time to spice it up a bit with some animal influence.

Simple Nail Designs with Zebra Tip Nails

Zebra nail designs

Zebra print nails are simple nail designs that add a bit of mystery (and innovation) to your nails. There are various ways to achieve a French nail manicure. You can go to the salon, apply white sticker tips, use nail polish or use white nail pens. The only additional item you will need for the zebra simple nail design is a black nail art brush.

To achieve the zebra affect, apply random black lines to your French manicure. These lines should only be applied to the tips of your nails. Start at the left side of your nail and draw a horizontal line towards the middle of your nail. This horizontal line should not be straight. It should have a slight blend to it in order to give the illusion of movement. Also, notice that the black lines start off thick and then taper off. Starting at the left side of your nail again, draw another line and extend it towards the middle of your nail. Repeat this process on the right side. The zebra lines that start on the right side of the nail should not be painted at the same level as the black stripes on the left side. In other words, they should be drawn in between the black stripes on the left side.

If you are nervous about drawing the lines, practice on a piece of paper first. Each nail should have a total of four black stripes. Of course, you can always change the amount of lines per nail in order to make your simple nail designs more interesting. What you end up with are simple nail designs that only require you to touch up your French nail manicure. As always, follow-up with a clear topcoat of nail polish.
